Legacy Building

Our Mission

Our Story

The Brandon Maye Legacy Foundation is the result of a vision by Prichard, Alabama native son, Brandon Maye, to ensure that youth growing up in the area have the knowledge, skills, and resources to build a positive legacy that they can leave to future generations. The first formal Foundation event, “Love Day” took place in February of 2020 and involved BMLF Board members, community volunteers, and student volunteers from The University of South Alabama’s South Serves organization going into Ella Grant Elementary School and showing love to the students, faculty, and staff through gifts and activities provided by local businesses. The second event hosted by the Foundation, now known as “A Legacy Christmas,” began as a sporadic idea by the Foundation’s founder to partner with a local school to do something special for some of the young people and their families who were in need during the Holiday Season. Within days, aided by Whitley Elementary School, the BMLF was able to identify several families and raise thousands of dollars to purchase toys and other gifts to distribute in time for Christmas. In July 2020, the Foundation was officially established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In June of 2021, an Executive Director was identified and elected by the Board to oversee the daily operations of the Foundation and to ensure the continued focus on the mission of “Positioning youth to live their legacy.”

Our mission

The mission of the Brandon Maye Legacy Foundation is to empower our youth to break generational cycles through educational opportunities, skill development, mentorship, and entrepreneurship so they can create their own LEGACY.

Our values

The Brandon Maye Legacy Foundation values family, education, community, and service. These values are reflected in the projects and events that the Foundation hosts annually and periodically. The core belief of the Foundation is that investments in our youth by enhancing their education, giving to their communities, aiding their families, and modeling service will lead to overall improvement of their lives. We are committed to “Positioning youth to live their legacy.”
